RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Authorities are still preventing residents from accessing a mobile home park in Raleigh where three children were killed by a falling tree.
Officers worked Monday to gather prescription medications and other emergency needs from homes in the area. Police have blocked public access to homes since Saturday night because of unstable trees and other dangers.
Authorities say the storm knocked a tree over onto one mobile home, killing 9-year-old Daniel Quistian Nino, 8-year-old Osvaldo Coronado and 3-year-old Kevin Coronado. A woman and infant from the home were also injured.
Many trees inside the park were snapped in half, while some homes were thrown from their foundations. Officials believe as many as half of the park's 200 homes are unlivable.
