CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a teenager who died after stowing away in the wheel well of a jet flying from Charlotte to Boston likely got onto the plane as it idled for more than half an hour waiting for takeoff.
The Charlotte Observer reports Tuesday that police say security at the airport is understaffed and recommend establishing better relationships with local law enforcement.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport has faced security questions since 16-year-old Delvonte Tisdale is thought to have crawled into the wheel well of the Boston-bound plane. His body was found in the flight path near Boston's Logan International Airport in November.
Charlotte police had said last month they could not release the report for security reasons. Many lines in the six-page report released Tuesday were redacted and unreadable.
