WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) - As we continue to sift through the correspondence between Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano and Jacquie Yorke, the President of the Doodle Rescue Society in New Jersey, we've come across one from Pantano's attorney threatening Yorke's attorney with war.
Yorke claims the Pantanos lied on an application for two puppies, that they're not qualified to adopt them, and she wants the returned. Pantano says Yorke is just harassing him because she doesn't agree with his politics.
In a letter dated April 7, Rick E. Graves writes to Dexter Campbell, III in Raleigh, encouraging him not to get into a fight over puppies.
But in the last paragraph, Graves goes even farther, saying, "I am certain I have a bit of an advantage here since the Pantanos are dear friends whom I would personally defend to the point of bodily injury, whether inside or outside of a courtroom. If you and your client really want to have a legal fight about a couple of puppies, then I am ready to go to war. And, as this is personal and political, I will not be charging any legal fees to my friends. When a friend of mine is attacked, it is an attack against me as well. I truly hope this is something that can be resolved short of a legal fight, but I wanted to give you and your client an honest assessment of what lies ahead if the threats in your letter were acted upon."

but if I had a legal issue, I would want an attorney who would be willing to fight for me and my family, like this. This last paragraph is outlined here, but earlier in the letter, Mr. Graves makes an important comment that is being overlooked, in this case. He states, "I am not sure how well you know your client and the facts in this case, but before you possibly embarrass yourself, you might ask your client for the documents they use in the ordinary course of business that transferred legal ownership of the puppies ... to your client. The Pantano's have a bill of sale ... and until we see a legal document predating our bill of sale ... then we do not have a legal issue to deal with."
Where is Jacquie Yorke's "legal document predating" the Pantano's Bill of Sale? Could that be more of a reason why her attorney bailed on her and not fear of a business term like, "going to war," for a friend?

There is NO "Bill of Sale"...Don't you get it? Didn't you watch the video? Seems Doodle Rescue already provided their legal paperwork and I hope that if WWAY has it, that they will be revealing even more incriminating evidence against Pantano that further supports the rescue's case.
You're missing the most important points of this whole fiasco. The Pantanos STOLE puppies from a rescue organization, gave them away to someone else and LIED to EVERYONE. They don't even have the puppies in their possession! They gave this ridiculous story to the media and twisted it to gain public support for IP's campaign. The Pantano's attorney LIED as well and then threatened "bodily harm." HE SHOULD BE DISBARRED and Pantano is not fit for public office!

WWAY---The Wilmington Tabloid
I used to watch WWAY news, but unfortunately they've turned in to nothing more than tabloid trash and are like our own version of televised National Enquirer. This story was in the Star News over two weeks ago with both sides spelled out, and no one has touched it since then other than WWAY. WWAY is just trying to flame this dead story in hopes that someone will turn into their news, because no one is watching.
Time to move along folks. Nothing to see here. Yorke is crazy and mean spirited and Pantano will keep his dogs that his family loves and cares for me. This story is dead just like WWAY's ratings.....

Simply put....Pantano is done. He has gone from serious candidate to Maury Povich white trash very quickly. We need a serious, accomplished candidate for Congress, not one who has drama, an unstable work history, a hotheaded lose lipped italian wife threatening people and especially not one who got away with murder. Fellow Republicans: The side show is over....this country has serious problems calling on serious leaders to solve. Pantano is not that guy. He should wrestle his lawyer for a side show....not running for Congress.
One has to wonder is Pantano announced early so the Republican legislature would not draw a coastal district with Walter Jones.....Pantano's buddy and partner in crime. I sincerely hope the Republican legislature goes after a liberal like Brad Miller or Butterfield and not waste their time on the disaster of Southeastern NC politics. I have been a supporter of Mr. Pantano's for a long time now. I agree that I, too, am unsure as to why this was made public unless he is considering this to be a transparency issue.
However, to attack Mr. Graves in this manner is unfair and wrong. I know Mr. Graves and his family. They are good upstanding, Christian people. To question his character based on this one client is extremely narrow-minded. He is doing his job as an attorney and staying true to his friendship by helping out. I can assure Mr. Graves is looking for no 'favors' or a 'job' were Pantano to ever be elected to office!

Thank you for covering this story. Pantano, please hear this. I was one of your supporters in the 2010 election, but your actions in this affair have cost you my respect and support. You have officially lost a supporter and I will never cast a vote for you in any election which you choose to run in from this day forward. I hope others will do the same.
