New Havover elections director starts Tuesday

WILMINGTON, NC (NHCGOV) — The New Hanover County Board of Elections announces that Marvin McFadyen will assume the duties of Director on Tuesday.

Bringing years of experience in the Elections field, Mr. McFadyen is very well equipped to lead New Hanover County in its quest to become an exemplary Board of Elections. He served as Deputy Director of Pitt County Board of Elections for 4 years. For the following 4 years, he was project manager for Microvote, an electronic voting equipment company. In that capacity he collaborated with state and county election officials in Tennessee and the Carolinas to ensure honest, fair, and accurate elections.

Most recently, he has been self employed as the owner of a restaurant in Black Mountain, NC. He is selling his restaurant and moving to Carolina Beach so that he can return to public service.

Mr. McFadyen has a Master’s Degree from East Carolina University in Geography/Planning. With his experience as a deputy director of a Board of Elections as well as his technical knowledge of voting equipment and his well-honed public relations skills, Mr. McFadyen is a natural for this position. He is looking forward to serving the voters of North Carolina.
