Roger Bacon archery team aims for world title

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Some young archers from our area are shooting for a world championship.

Over the weekend, the archery team at Roger Bacon Academy earned a spot in the National Archery in Schools Program world tournament this fall in Orlando. The team won the invitation with its performance at the national tournament in Louisville, KY.

Earlier this year the elementary school team won the state title, while the middle schoolers finished third in North Carolina.

Eighth grader Hunter Johnson won a world title in his age group last year.

I believe that WWAY needs to give this big coverage from both the sports angle and the charter school angle. They didn't get to this level by gang bangin' and shoplifting at the mall.
