Boil advisory continues as part of Leland waits lab tests

READ MORE:

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- On the hottest day of the day of the year so far, a water problem is leaving some Leland residents out to dry.

H2Go issued a boil water advisory yesterday afternoon after a pipe burst in a construction zone on Village Road and Northgate Drive. The water company says this could have introduced bacteria into the water system.

A handful of businesses and the Willows subdivison have been under the advisory now since yesterday evening.

"A gentleman knocked on the door, handed us a flyer saying that they had a pipe bust up where they're doing the work on Village Road, asked us to boil the water. It's just a little inconvenience at times, but not much," resident Kenneth Atkins said. "I know construction's gotta happen."

Leland Mayor Walter Futch's dental practice was among the businesses affected. A sign on his door says it will be closed until Thursday morning.

Lab tests on water samples are expected back tomorrow afternoon. If they are clean, the boil advisory will be lifted.
