WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police have arrested a man for a shooting at a nightclub early this morning.
Walter Rogers Harvin, 32, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, after a shooting at The Edge at 1219 S. 5th Street.
Police say officers responded to the club just after 1:30 a.m. They found a 44-year-old man on the floor inside, who had been shot.
Witnesses told police the victim was a bouncer at the club. They say he had walked outside with several patrons who seemed to be in a fight. Witnesses said they heard shots fired, and the victim ran back inside.
Another employee of the club reported seeing a group of men leave the area in two separate cars. A WPD officer later stopped a car matching one of the vehicle descriptions, and the three people inside were held for questioning.
The investigation led to Harvin's arrest. He is in jail under $75,000 secured bond.
