Sheriff's Department investigating who leaked Berger unemployment information

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) - At the request of Commissioner Brian Berger, Sheriff Ed McMahon has initiated an investigation into a possible breach of the state’s personnel policy regarding access to information contained in a personnel file.

While it has been determined by the District Attorney that the county did not break the law by releasing the information in question, the Sheriff’s Office investigation will focus on the person or persons who may be responsible for alerting others to the existence of the document. (See N.C.G.S. § 153A-98)

wanda copley should do her job-fire leaker

This conduct crossed a line.If it was a private employer, the employee who broke the policy(s) would be immediately terminated. If Copley is honest? then she should determine who broke policy and leaked this document. Either the sheriff or other investigators will hopefully get through any smoke and find wrongdoer. THis goes beyond just sticking it to a politician--this leak stinks.
