We even have a link to a Coach's Corner segment we did with Kane back in 2010. http://www.wwaytv3.com/vp/20158/coachs_corner_010310 ... During the interview Kane reflects on his tenure at WWAY.
Below is the news release Tommy Kane sent us about his latest award. Kane is a Wilmington native. He's a graduate of Hoggard High School in Wilmington & NC State University in Raleigh.
ATLANTA, GA. – Tommy Kane was recognized with a Southeast Regional Emmy Award this past weekend, awarded by the Atlanta/Southeast Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in a ceremony in Atlanta. Tommy won the Emmy in the category of “Outstanding Achievement - On-Camera Talent - Reporter -
Sports.” “I was completely shocked when they called my name. I am very humbled and honored. There were a lot of talented sports reporters in the category. Anyone who works in this business will tell you that on-air talent is only as good as the folks behind the cameras and in the edit rooms… so a lot of the credit goes to all the talented people that I work with,” said Kane.
Tommy hosts the Emmy Award and multiple Telly Award winning ACC ROAD TRIP on Raycom Sports / ACC Network. He also reported for The ATL Sports Experience on COMCAST ON-DEMAND as well as other local shows this past year.
"Tommy's energy on camera has brought life to ACC ROAD TRIP since it's inception and his willingness to try anything has allowed the show to succeed in capturing the atmosphere of ACC Football in ways we never imagined,” said Raycom Sports producer, Alex Farmartino. “Tommy Kane is the engine that keeps ACC ROAD TRIP rolling."
The award-winning ACC ROAD TRIP takes fans to a different ACC game every weekend and captures the entire “game day” experience. Throughout the ACC football and basketball seasons, ACC Road Trip host Tommy Kane visits different ACC schools and checks out the campus hot spots, local restaurants, and best tailgates. Plus, he takes an unique, up-close and often comical look into the pageantry and game day traditions that makes ACC basketball and football so great. From rubbing Howard’s Rock and running the hill with the Clemson Tigers... to partying in South Beach… to marching with the UVA band at halftime... to camping out overnight with the Cameron Crazies... Tommy brings viewers experiences in the ACC like most fans only dream about!
In 2010, Kane was an “Official Honoree” in the 2010 WEBBY AWARDS for “Best Reality / Variety Host” for his work on ACC ROAD TRIP.
