Special Olympics camp kicks off

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Some special kids around the Cape Fear are getting a special treat this week Their week is full of soccer, kickball and all sorts of games, and it's all put on by the Special Olympics.

The kids were having a blast on their first day of camp at Williston Middle School in Wilmington, but boy was it hot out there. Camp counselors brought the children inside for some fun out of that hot sun.

The camp will host more than 250 kids over the next four weeks.

Donations from the annual Polar Plunge, when the temperature is significantly cooler, help make this camp free and fun.
