Fort Bragg contractor to withdraw, layoffs planned

READ MORE:

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) -- A Virginia company says it is closing
its operations at Fort Bragg and will lay off some 450 workers.

The Fayetteville Observer reported Friday that CSC Applied
Technology Group employs mostly aircraft mechanics for maintenance
and repair of equipment at Fort Bragg's Simmons Army Airfield.

Company officials told the North Carolina Department of Commerce
that the contract expires Aug. 31 and there are no plans to renew.

CSC was given contracts at Fort Bragg and several other military
basses worth $347 million in 2009.

The Falls Church, Va., company says in its required notice to
the state that other jobs affected may include quality control
inspectors, supply technicians and flight simulator/instructor
pilots.
