Brunswick County, NC (WWAY) -- Navassa Mayor Eulis Willis is facing a driving while impaired charge after being stopped by Navassa police Sunday morning, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Highway patrol was called in to a avoid a possible conflict of interest. WWAY has reached out to Mayor Willis by phone but we have not heard back.

This does not surpris me one bit....I hope that he is actually disciplined for this...unlike other things in the past. A slap on the wrist is obviously not enough to straighten this guy out. I hope the people of Navassa wake up and take more care in who they are voting into offices!
They did not pull
any punches. They called in the SHP in order to avoid a conflict of interest.
I imagine the Mayor has no input into Police Officer reviews or compensation.
Did something similar not happen to the former Police Chief; perhaps 12 to 18 months ago?
