Administrative mistakes delay court dates for Strickland, Wright

READ MORE: Administrative mistakes delay court dates for Strickland, Wright

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Two men with connections to former state Sen. R.C. Soles were scheduled to be in court today in Tabor City, but administrative errors led to both having their court dates pushed back.

Allen "Frog" Strickland has been in court all week in Columbus County for arson charges. A jury acquitted him Thursday.

Friday he was supposed to be tried for separate charges, stemming from allegation of vandalism at Soles's home near Tabor City in February, including misdemeanor injury to real property, breaking and entering and second degree trespassing.

Strickland's lawyer says a witness was not subpoenaed for the case, which will push back Strickland's next appearance to August 20.

B.J. Wright was also supposed to be at the Tabor City Courthouse to face second degree trespassing and resisting a public officer. Wright did not come because he is under house arrest in Whiteville. Even though the judge said a provision should have been made for him to come to court, he decided to allow wright to appear on August 20 as well.

Soles was at court early, but left before either of these cases were called.

We tried to reach District Attorney Jon David about what happened. He has not returned our calls.

This is just an example of what actions can be taken to delay court appearances.

Think what a high profile, knowledgable attorney representing a well known, financially sound, retired State Senator can accomplish if charges are ever brought against that retired State Senator.

I think Jon David's inflated

I think Jon David's inflated view of himself would prohibit him from admitting he made a mistake, especially to WWAY. Typical Prima Donna!

No one asked.

Nobody cares nor asked what you think.

Hopefully he is busy

Hopefully he is busy focusing on the truly dangerous and real criminals, instead of focusing on the circus in Tabor City.
