CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) -- Charlotte police say a man has died after being shot with a Taser by one of their officers.
Investigators say 21-year-old Lareko Williams was shocked with the Taser as he ran from an officer trying to arrest him for attacking a woman at a light rail station around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the officer saw Williams punch the woman and ordered him to stop.
Authorities say Williams became unresponsive as he was being taken into custody and died at the hospital about an hour later.
Police Chief Rodney Monroe says internal affairs officers will review officer Michael Forbes' actions and review footage from several surveillance cameras in the area.
Forbes is a seven-year veteran of the force.
