BSL lake could stay closed through weekend

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) -- The City of Boiling Spring Lakes has closed Spring Lake for testing. City Clerk Linda Merry says the city closed the lake yesterday after finding out Wednesday that a baby may have gotten sick after swimming in the lake recently.

Merry says an environmental company from Wilmington is testing the water quality. Results may be available late this afternoon, but Merry said the city may not reopen the lake until Monday.

More like Scum ponds, there are many residents that would never and should never even dip a toe in "any" of them.
I am pretty sure BSL water tester's most of the time use a "test strip" because sending any sample anywhere would just be too much $$, but please spend the $$ on "Woodpecker" THAT keep's BSL Safe and Happy.
This community is dying of neglect, if you consider moving here, just know that BSL is a LAST resort. No, I am not from up North, somebody will accuse me of being. Born and Bred NC and Southern all the way !

Spring Lake IS OPEN

With water quality results now in, Spring Lake , the lake that had been in question is now back open to swimmers as the test results found this lake water acceptable for swimming. Further, all lakes designated for swimming accept for Seminole Lake are open for swimming.

I wondered how long it would

I wondered how long it would take them to close it. Our grandbaby girl got sick a couple of weeks ago after we took her swimming there.
