RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Gov. Bev Perdue raised $1.3 million for her re-election campaign in the first half of this year.
Perdue's campaign on Wednesday released a fundraising summary through June 30 showing she raised about $320,000 more than Republican Pat McCrory did during the same period. The former Charlotte mayor is very interested in a rematch with Perdue, who beat him in a close general election race in 2008.
Candidate committees are required to turn in fundraising reports by Friday. McCrory released his numbers earlier Wednesday.
Perdue's report shows she raised all but $19,000 from individual contributors. The summary also shows the campaign still has about $775,000 in outstanding loans, all of which are owed to Perdue and her husband.
Perdue and McCrory have picked up their fundraising efforts in recent months.
