WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Sheriff's Deputies say they've caught two men accused of stealing weapons and jewelry from a house.

Investigators say there was a break-in at 2519 Sapling Circle Saturday. The robbers got away with several guns, ammo cases, jewelry and a knife collection.

Detectives followed leads that helped them locate suspects. Investigators set up surveillance on the suspects and observed them in the Walgreens parking lot at Market Street and Gordon Road.

Investigators say as they closed in on the suspects the driver, Jon-Michael Joseph Laurie, 21, got out of his truck with a pistol in his front waistband and was quickly placed under arrest. Deputies found five rifles, two ammo cases, stolen jewelry and a stolen knife collection in the bed of the truck.

Detectives arrested Laurie (above, left) and William Eric Watson, 23 (above, right), on several drug and larceny charges. Both men are currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

NHCSO makes an arrest

Great job arresting someone that was a suspect in a break in robbery. Not sure exactly how much detective work was involved or what the reason was for the search that uncovered the stolen property. My guess is concealing the gun tucked into the waistband and I assume the thief didn't have a carry conceal permit.

This will be one of those cases where the DA's office will allow probation. My guess is they robbed their parents.

And for real, one of the guy's name is Laurie? Seriously? No wonder he turned to crime.

Great work

Great work. LEts hope this is not plead down to probation like most cases in this area. It is so weird how someone can be arrested for felony B&E and or larceny and it basically being automatically plead down to misdemeanor and receive probation. So until this stops people have little or no consequences for this behavior.

Nice Job

Great job Detectives! Hopefully these two will be off the streets for a while.

Excellent arrests!

Great job in apprehending these loathsome theives! I suppose there is an endless supply of low-life scumbags like these punks out there preying on the honest people.

Keep up the good work! Wouldn't hurt to put another couple of hundred thousand on their heads though!!!

NH Cty Sheriff Dept

My compliments to the Sheriff's Department. It's a great comfort to know that they are constantly defending the (good guys) public. I'm afraid that with the economy a bad as it is, the poor Sheriff's Department will need all the support it can get from the citizens of our county. Congratulations.....We're proud of you.
