Brunswick deputies ask for help to find gunman

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Brunswick County Sheriff's Detectives are looking for help finding a gunman. They want to talk with anyone who may have been in the area of Grissettown last night between 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Investigators say a victim was confronted by a white male, possibly in his 20s, on the side of the road at the intersection of Seaside Road and Highway 17. The suspect was driving a black car. Deputies say the suspect got out of the car and confronted the victim. The suspect shot the victim in the abdomen with a small caliber handgun. The victim is in the hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone who was in the Grissettown area around the time of the shooting and may have seen it happen should call the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office at (910) 253-2777 or (910) 754-3713 and ask for Det. Tony Caison.
