Local designers compete for national prize

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington boutique has entered a national fashion design competition where the winner will win a $40,000 cash prize.

The team named "Triangle" consists of Jessie Williams, the owner of Edge of Urge, Jess Young, the designer of the line of jewelry Remnant by Mimic, and Jess Yeager the designer of the I Like it Here Club line of jewelry.

The objective of this competition is to reduce waste and increase sustainability in our clothes.

"Ours is trimming the waste in fashion, which for us means we want to start up a co-op style local production to employ local crafts people and give independent designers an opportunity to use their designs," Williams said.
