NC Library has online exhibit about fair

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- The North Carolina State Fair is more than
two months away, but the State Library is getting people in the
mood for everything fried with an online exhibit titled "Blue
Ribbon Memories: Your History of the NC State Fair."

The site includes a timeline that allows visitors to browse all
the fair's premium lists, which describe how much contestants could
win for entries such as quilts, jam and pies.

The site also includes articles, photographs, films, memorabilia
and other information about the fair.

North Carolina residents can submit personal stories or
photographs. Lisa Gregory of the State Library says the memories
don't have to be fancy, just true to the sights, sounds and scents
of the fair.

The 2011 fair is to be held Oct. 13-23.
