TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Even Hurricane Irene cannot stop another chapter in the strange story of a teen with ties to former state Sen. R.C. Soles.

Law enforcement in Columbus County are on the hunt for Allen "Frog" Strickland. Yesterday the 19-year-old cut off his GPS bracelet, but that's just the beginning.

Tabor City Police say around 5 p.m. Thursday Strickland showed up at Soles's home. The teen allegedly threw a bottle at Soles's car, but police say the vehicle was not damaged.

For a week now, Strickland has been on GPS tracking, a court order he received as part of a $1 million bond agreement from a previous vandalism charge.

With the GPS monitor still on him, investigators say Strickland left Soles's home. Forty-five minutes later Frog showed up at a nearby gas station.

Strickland cut off his GPS monitor at the Vasco Gas and Go in Tabor City. The store owner says this whole incident with Strickland happened in a few seconds.

Surveillance video obtained by WWAY shows Strickland quickly walking up to the store. He walks toward the back, puts his foot on a table, cuts off his GPS, then hands it to an employee. The store owner, who did not want to go on camera, says Strickland told his employee that the police should show up shortly. The owner says Strickland also told the employee that no one can do anything to him.

Strickland has been on the run ever since.

Friday morning investigators got a warrant for his arrest for first degree trespassing at Soles's home. Tabor City Police say Strickland violated a court order when he showed up to the estate.

According to Tabor City Police Chief Donald Dowless, Strickland is still on the run as of Friday afternoon.

has the cops checked R. C.

has the cops checked R. C. bedroom or his ( closet). you never know what u just might find................. .

What is everyone missing?

Clearly, Frog realizes Uncle RC's money may one day not be at his disposal. Plus, he can not understand why he has not been offered a reality show gig.

Hence, raise it up a couple of notches; maybe get national media attention.

Jennifer Lopez has a new reality show in Miami about car reposessions.

Maybe Frog is hoping to get Pee Wee Herman interested in a joint venture.

Allen "Frog" Strickland Cuts off GPS

I thought that putting Allen on GPS was a bad idea to begin with. The State of North Carolina does not have the money to continue to prosecute this criminal. My main question is why did the Columbus County Sheriff's Department do their job correctly? If Allen Strickland went to Soles' house and then 45 minutes later went to this convenience store, that was more than enough time for the Sheriff's Department to track Strickand and put him back in jail. He still had the tracking device on him. Why did the Sheriff's Dept screw up. Why have a GPS on a subject if you are not going to properly monitor it. Whoever at the Sheriff's Dept. responsible for this lack of monitoring should be fired....plain and simple. People have run down the TC Police Dept.,,,what about the Sheriff's Dept. They have more man power and can't track a subject like Strickland....please something is definitely wrong with this picture. Makes me want to think if the monitoring was over looked on purpose. I want to know the answer to this question, WWAY. Please investigate and write a follow up story on it for the citizens of Columbus County who apparently aren't being protected by an efficient Sheriff's Dept.

A Frog is just a Frog....

A Frog is just a Frog....

Its going to be hard for them to be seperated.

It must be arduous for him and RC to be separated. No wait, RC has another young man who just got out of prison, that will make it easier on RC while Frog is locked up at least.

What Can I say?

About R.C. Soles and Allen Fogg Strikland I can only quote someone far more eloquent than me.

"Don't you find that love is a torment?"

"Keeping Up Appearances"

frog strickland

Let's hope Strickland is sterile and cannot reproduce.

Bad Light

I’m not one to criticize the Police Dept. but the court system is a totally different story. The job of our Law Enforcement agencies is to bring before the courts, people they are accusing of violating our laws and the police have done just that on many occasions in the case of this young man named Allen Strickland. This situation is so much reported that the printed media no longer refers to him as Allen Strickland. He is simply referred to as “Strickland” and the general public automatically knows just who is being reported on by the media. I am curious as to the reason this young man is allowed to continue to have run-ins with Mr. Soles, Soles calls Law Enforcement, Strickland is picked up and then Mr. Soles goes to court to speak on behalf of this young man. Something is wrong there and someone needs to get to the bottom of it before someone is injured or killed.

Now the court system should consider the continued abuse of the system by Mr. Strickland and based on his actions and demonstration of the lack of any responsibility, it should hold him without bail until his trial or if the Judge is going to make him post a five million dollar bail, then do not make any deal for less. Make it a five million dollar cash bail with the source of the bail being made know. This Soles / Strickland situation has become a circus and is making the local area the laughing stock in the surrounding area.

The banjo music is still

Playing in Tabor City. By now no one should be surprised!!

@ Ken (not verified) I would

@ Ken (not verified)

I would criticize both the Police (at least here in Tabor City) and the court system. Hopefully Mr. David can get something done that Rex never could. Bad thing is these Democratic judges in Columbus County will make it hard as they can on him, since he is not in the good ole boy ring of politics.

When Mr. David tries to do something just wait, they will tell him to go back to Florida.

Frog on the lamb

The bail bondsman will get him. He usually picks up where the sheriff falls short. Maybe he should be our nest Sheriff. There's a thought. He's like John David, not connected and does not kiss butt.
