LUMBERTON, NC (AP) -- Police are looking for a gunman who blasted a car on Interstate 95 with a shotgun and then robbed the occupants when the vehicle stopped.
The Robesonian of Lumberton reported that the robber got about $50 from the wallets of the five passengers, who were all from Conway, SC.
The Robeson County Sheriff's Office says the car was traveling south on I-95 on Sunday evening when someone shot into the car with lightweight bird shot. The driver told investigators she pulled to the side of the highway because she thought she had run over something.
The travelers called 911 for help and got back into the car to wait. A man in a grey, hooded sweat shirt and a black mask appeared and pointed a shotgun at them.
