Seattle Seahawks add Owen Spencer to practice squad on Sunday

RENTON,WA -- Owen Spencer is a graduate of North Brunswick High School in Leland. Spencer lives in Belville, NC. He signed a free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans in late July, but the Titans released Spencer earlier this week. The Seattle Seahawks added Spencer to their roster shortly after Spencer left Tennessee, but Spencer did not survive the roster cuts on Saturday afternoon.

UPDATE... On Sunday afternoon the Seahawks signed Owen Spencer to the practice squad. He's now an NFL player !! The former NC State receiver can be promoted to the active 53 man roster. Other NFL teams can claim Spencer as well, but if he's claimed he must be added to the active roster of that team. Each NFL team is entitled to eight practice squad players. Players on the practice roster practice alongside regular roster players during the week. UPDATE..... UPDATE....

Spencer finished his career at North Carolina State with 126 receptions for 2,441 yards and 15 touchdowns. He earned All-ACC second-team recognition his senior year after he caught a career-high 60 passes for 912 yards and four touchdowns. His 25.5 yard per catch average during his junior season in 2009 led the nation when he caught 30 passes for 765 yards with six touchdowns.
