Wounded Warrior ride stopped after accident

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wounded Warrior ride to Wilmington ended early today after one of the riders was involved in an accident with a car.

A Cape Fear Community College spokesman said one of the riders was bumped during the ride to Wilmington. No one was seriously hurt, but the delay led organizers to pull the plug on the rest of the trip that was supposed to end at Cape Fear Community College's downtown campus.

The annual ride is made up of disabled military veterans. This ride started this morning in Holly Ridge.

Many of the riders use adaptive bicycles that allow them to participate in spite of missing limbs or other severe injuries.

This annual event serves to raise awareness of the many thousands of our veterans that have been injured.

Honor those for OUR FREEDOM

Surely you're not suggesting that motorcyclist do not have the right to be on a public highway or that they should not be allowed to honor those who have given life and limb for OUR FREEDOM. Obviously, I misunderstood you somehow.

Uhh..

how about researching what this event was and what they were doing before opening your mouth and inserting your foot!

I'm

going to get yelled at...but planning a bike ride on one of the busiest roads around from Holly Ridge to Wilmington during a work week..WAS A STUPID IDEA!

yeah, they need to create

yeah, they need to create awareness when there is no one on the road to see them.

Yup..

and see how that worked out...

Wounded Warrior hit by car.

Yes you are going to get a response but I don't think yelling at you would do any good. I have been cycling for 25 years and in many cities and countries far more congested than this. Never had an incident till I moved here. Wilmington is probably the most unfriedly town I have ever encountered while riding. This was an organized ride, not just some guys out for a spin. Wake up Wilmington. By the way, it's rude to say stupid and type in all caps. Most people get your point. Maybe next time the Wounded Warriors could have the ride at at midnight around Halyburton Park. The point of a ride for a charity/cause is visibility.

Then

RIDE DURING THE WORK WEEK AND GET KILLED! I ride myself, but I don't have an ATTITUDE about it...no matter whos fault it is...if your on a bike...YOU LOOSE

No, They could not ride at

No, They could not ride at midnight. They stop by local school to talk about the wounded warrior project and how they help the community to give back. So it would be pointless to ride at midnight...
