McIntyre holds big fundraising lead over Republican challengers

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- We've been watching the horse race that is the campaign for President, but things are heating up here at home for Congress.

This week candidates for the 7th District seat filed their third quarter campaign finance reports.

Incumbent Democrat Rep. Mike McIntyre has a big lead with $555,075.91 in the bank after raising $224,744.57 this quarter according to his campaign.

On the Republican side, Ilario Pantano says he raised about $65,000 this quarter and has about $29,000 on hand. David Rouzer says he raised about $200,000 in the last six weeks and has approximately $193,000 in cash on hand.

FEC reports

Not sure what the problem is. I can verify Mr. Pantano's filing on the FEC website, but Mr. Rouzer's is nowhere to be found.

It is amazing that Mr. Rouzer has raised so much money in such a short time. I read today that President Obama has, as well. Maybe the wealthy are contributing heavily.

When I look at Mr. Rouzer's endorsements, they read like a who's who in NC agribusiness and NC politics. Makes me wonder what the rich farmers and politicians stand to gain if he is elected. Mr. Rouzer is a professional lobbyist that is well-financed and well-connected.

Someone noted that he is "squeaky clean". Well, so is Mike McIntyre. They remind me of each other. Both, have spent most of their adult lives as career politicians. Neither, has ever got his hands dirty.

synopsis of this race

The true cash on hand figure is ZERO for Pantano since he mismanaged his campaign last time and is still carrying over $25,000 in debt. Not exactly a good example of a tea party candidate in financial management. David Rouzer never fails to impress with his campaign cash raised in a short amount of time. I gave him $250 myself because he has a squeaky clean background and he has many more credentials than Pantano. Congrats Sen. Rouzer on your successful fundraising quarter!

1 step closer...

...to no more Pantano. At this rate, he should give up his day job of being a consummate campaigner b/c he's obviously not very good at that either. David Rouzer is going to crush him. Maybe he'll finally take the hint that we don't want him. Pantano was simply the best choice in a weak crop last election cycle.

That $250 would have been better spent....

...in the campaigns of whoever goes up against Obama and Purdue.

Considering McIntyre's voting record, especially since the radical left wing of the Democrats took over, I don't see why you're obsessed with unseating him. Depending upon how the redistricting is finalized, there would be no shame whatsoever in the Republican Party opting to pass on fielding an oponent to McIntyre, and concentrate our energies and cash donations elsewhere. He's a good man with a conservative voting record.

The threat this country faces is Obama. The threat this state faces is Lil' Miss Suspend the Elections. There's no sense wasting money and time on McIntyre. He isn't the problem, and if it comes down to only one "D" deciding who controls the house, than we haven't done what we needed to - kick another fifty or sixty out!
