Third Leland candidate drops out of council race

READ MORE:

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- For the third time since mid-August a candidate for Leland Town Council has dropped out of the election. The Brunswick County Board of Elections says Kerrie Wallace withdrew today.

Wallace has not yet returned a call for comment.

Wallace joins incumbent Herbert Barnes and challenger Steve Candler in dropping out. Because they dropped out after ballots were printed, both Wallace and Barnes will still have their name on the ballots, though votes for them will not count.

The latest change leaves just three candidates, Jane Crowder, Donn Garvey and Jon Tait, vying for two open seats on the council. Incumbent councilwoman Brenda Bozeman is running unopposed for mayor.

Where are they

Come on Yanks. Just because you live in Magnolia Greens or Brunswick Forest you are still residents of Leland. You run your mouths and complain about everything. Why are you not running for office? You know you can help make Leland a better place. C'mon, where is your civic pride?Y
