NC woman charged with school bus vandalism

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (AP) -- A Carteret County woman has been charged with vandalism after police say she drove a school bus to her boyfriend's house.

Twenty-two-year-old Jillian Tetterton of Newport was arrested earlier this week and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and damage to seven school buses.

The vandalism delayed the opening of Morehead City Primary School by two hours Monday.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol has charged Tetterton with driving while impaired.

Police say the woman broke into the buses at the school, vandalizing them before taking one to her boyfriend's house.

Police say the man called them to report the woman was at his house with a school bus. Police say she was still on the bus when they arrived.

It was unclear if Tetterton has a lawyer.
