NC man charged after dead, starving dogs found

BURLINGTON, NC (AP) -- An Alamance County man has been arrested after authorities found dead and starving dogs on his property.

Twenty-nine-year-old Demond Packingham was arrested Tuesday. Authorities found two dead dogs and 13 hungry dogs on his property.

The sheriff's office said the dogs were suffering from severe malnutrition.

Packingham is charged with two felony counts of starving animals to death, two misdemeanor counts of improper disposition of dead animals and 13 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
