Power outage in Pender County leaves thousands in the dark

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A power outage in Pender county has left about 10,000 people without power Tuesday night.

Scott Sutton of Progress Energy says the outages are caused by a downed transmission line, though the company isn't sure why the line went down. Sutton says about 3,000 customers had restored power by 8 PM, and that they hoped to have power returned to remaining customers by 9:00 PM.
