LOS ANGELES (AP) - A jury ruled that Dr. Conrad Murray is guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.
A judge says Murray will be held without bail until he is sentenced later this month.
A seven-man, five-woman jury convicted Murray of being substantially responsible for Jackson's June 2009 death on Monday after less than nine hours of deliberations. He was handcuffed in the courtroom.
The Houston-based cardiologist faces a possible sentence of probation to four years behind bars. He will also lose his medical license.
Prosecutors depicted Murray as a reckless physician who abandoned Jackson while he was under the effects of the powerful anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009.
Attorneys for the cardiologist countered that Jackson was addicted to the drug and self-administered the fatal dose when Murray left his bedroom.
Murray agreed to become Jackson's personal physician as the singer prepared for a series of comeback concerts in 2009.
Murray did not testify during the trial but previously acknowledged to police that he gave Jackson propofol and other sedatives on the morning the singer died.

This is what happens when you dont have Johnny Cochran type Atty
you get convicted.. Honestly the evidence was soo light in this case Im suprised they got a conviction this same stupid bunch of pinheads who let OJ walk on a bloody "If it dont fit you cant acquit defense" Justice isnt blind and it surely isnt balanced if you have the money to hire a big time lawyer you can get away with murder.. As a medical professional its hard for me to even say his actions rose to involuntary manslaughter. Malpractice yes, Should he lose his license to practice medicine yes but when Dr Murray was also dealing with a very demanding patient which he repeatedly explained the dangers and risks of using propofol for what Mr Jackson was using it for.. Based on reports of Micheals severe insomnia I suspect he had a a midbrain tumor very small affecting his Reticular Formation which not only controls sleep wake cycles but is at the very core of pain response in the brain and as Mr Jackson had suffered through yrs of painful issues as a result of his severe burns which apparently dogged him till his death a problem with that part of the midbrain would explain many of his symptoms.. the Reticular Formation controls the sleep wake cycle somewhat and overactivity there might very well have affect his sleep cycle it has also been found that issues with the RF are the root cause of incidents where patients have woken up in surgery. It is very possible but not likely that propofol was the drug of last resort used to allow Mr Jackson to get needed rest and sleep. If he had eliminated all other stimulants from his diet and was on large doses of pain killers which he had developed a tolerance too as well the possibility that an issue in the RF or small tumor could have been at the root cause of his extreme insomnia.
Disagree
I have to disagree. Dr. Murray was convicted because of his own actions, not because he didn't have Johnny Cochran as his attorney.
1) No matter how much Michael begged and pleaded for Propofol, Dr. Murray knew it was a dangerous drug and never should have caved in to Michael's requests.
2) Propofol should have only been used in a hospital setting, where resusitation equipment is always ready and waiting, along with a top notch staff to revive him in case of emergency.
3) Dr. Murray should have never left Michael's side (even for a few minutes).
4) Dr. Murray didn't call 911 immediately when he saw Michael wasn't breathing.
5) Dr. Murray performed CPR on Michael, instead of resusitation. CPR was a waste of time and performed incorrectly. He should have been (air) bagged.
6) Dr. Murray lied on several occasions to cover his poor decisions and try to blame others.
These are only just a few of the many poor decisions Dr. Murray made which caused Michael Jackson's death. I wish he could have been prosecuted for murder.
