WILMINGTON, NC (NET NEWS) -- The buyer for five SEA-COMM MEDIA stations in WILMINGTON, NC is DAVIS MEDIA, LLC. The deal, widely reported last week (NET NEWS 11/10) with no specific buyer named, has yet to be filed with the FCC and no price was disclosed; GEORGE REED of MEDIA SERVICES GROUP served as exclusive broker for the deal.

The stations include the Talk "THE BIG TALKER" simulcast of WLTT/BOLIVIA, NC and WNTB/TOPSAIL BEACH, NC; Classic Rock WBNE (103.7 THE BONE)/WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC; Triple A WUIN (98.3 THE PENGUIN)/OAK ISLAND, NC; and WSFM-A/CAROLINA BEACH, NC, plus FM translator W240AS/WILMINGTON. DAVIS is taking over in an LMA starting immediately.

SEA-COMM owner RICK JORGENSEN said, "After 46 years in the radio business, and almost 24 years in WILMINGTON, I have decided it is time to sail off into the sunset."

DAVIS MEDIA principal TOM DAVIS said, "DAVIS MEDIA is delighted about sustaining the SEA-COMM heritage in WILMINGTON, as well as implementing our digital/radio model, Hometown Driver, which has produced double digit growth for two years and running. With JAKE RUSSELL as our local owner-operator, we look to replicate our pilot market in WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA, and WILMINGTON is the perfect market to continue the expansion of our model and radio's future as the driver of the local media company."

I'm G-O-N-E!

The intelligent dialog replaced with fluff followed by mass-commercial breaks. No Way! I can EASILY re-direct my favorites!!!

It's just too easy these days to get FOX on ALL of our phones and ... we most of us have Serius Radio and FOX all talk radio. If not, YOU should.

Who needs the local yokels deleting political conversation and interviews to typical junk?

Sincere as all heck,
GUEST "2012"

The "Big Yakker"

The Big Talker had it's day.which was many years ago.
The show was overly critical, and they due to conservative nature had few listeners 35 and under.
Sort of Like Rush Limbaugh, once you have heard him 10 times,do you have to listen more?
The Big Talker lost many advertising dollars to yje "younger market".

93.7 changes

The new programming on TheBigTalker 93.7 is fluff and I am taking it off my presets. We are approaching the most important Presidential campaign in the history of the US and they exchange important talk for fluff...are you kidding me?

The terrible change in programming

I've been a daily listener of the Big Talker for years. The new programming that does not include Boortz and Clark Howard is not something that interests me in the least, i.e. commercial after commercial and commentary from unknown pundits. Return to the previous programming or you've lost me as a listener.

Second that

Definitely agree with Jerry. Plus no more Sean Hannity and no more Mark Levine. This station has also lost me and my wife as listeners.

Terrible

New line up on the station, been listening for the last 8 yrs for at least 6 hrs a day but not interested in the new format one bit. I recently tried to get back to listening to the penguin, but that station is still playing too much total crap.
