Sheriff, school district say no evidence of gang issues after school fight

BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) -- Things were back to normal at West Bladen High School today. The Bladen County Sheriff's Office and school district say there was at least one fight yesterday at the school.

Despite reports from another Wilmington media outlet, a district spokeswoman says the school was not locked down nor were students sent home early yesterday.

Sheriff Prentis Benston says there is no evidence to support a news report that yesterday's tensions were gang-related. Benston says there were extra deputies on campus today, which is normal after a fight.

Denial Allows Insurgence

As soon as you begin denying gangs exists, they will only get a stronger hold in a community.
It's how the NY mafia families grow so stronge & dangerous.

Ignorance is not always bliss...

They did not deny that gangs exist, they simply said the fight was not 'related'.
