CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) -- North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory has provided a sneak peek at his fundraising for the second half of 2011.
McCrory spokesman Brian Nick said Tuesday the ex-Charlotte mayor's committee raised more than $1.5 million in the past six months and had more than $2 million on hand as of last weekend. Govs. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana attended McCrory fundraisers in the fall.
Itemized figures are expected from campaign finance reports due Jan. 27.
McCrory's committee raised $1 million during the first half of 2011. McCrory plans to challenge Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue, whose campaign raised $1.3 million in the first six months of last year.
Perdue raised more money than McCrory on the way to a narrow 2008 electoral victory.
