Judge hears bid to delay John Edwards trial

GREENSBORO, NC (AP) -- A federal judge in North Carolina is considering whether former presidential candidate John Edwards goes on trial for alleged campaign finance violations later this month.

A hearing in Greensboro is set Friday, a day after lawyers for the former Democratic US senator sought to seal documents describing what they call Edwards's "confidential medical condition."

Edwards's lawyers last month asked the judge to delay the start of his Jan. 30 trial for at least two months. Lawyers say Edwards has a medical condition that would make it difficult for him to attend the trial.

Prosecutors say they are ready to try Edwards on six felony and misdemeanor counts related to nearly $1 million from wealthy donors used to help hide his pregnant mistress during his 2008 While House run.

why is this witch hunt front page with the likes of soles still slagging around???

It's funny.

Edwards can't make it because of his medical condition.

Since when did "paying the piper" become a condition?

What he has medicine can't cure. There's no prescription for it either.

He's a lying, lawyer.

There's alot of that going around.

He would find a way to show up to court if the case was one of his ambulance chasing lawsuits. Maybe he was finally diagnosed with having a terminal case of sleaze.

Really? What is this trial going to prove or show that we don't already know? More importantly, how much is this going to cost the American taxpayers? Why isn't the Department of Justice working on a settlement, a settlement in the fashion of Wall Street where a "payment" is made without the admission or denial of wrongdoing?

Edwards has an absolute zero chance of ever having a future in politics.

Give me a breat!!

It's time Edwards woke up and realized that he isn't above the law.

If any of us "common folk" broke the law, we'd still have to show up for trial, even if we did have a "medical condition".

Stop acting like a spoiled brat and take responsibility for your actions, Edwards.

John Edward's lawyers should come out and say dementia has set in and he overdosed on Viagra. The sympathy card would be his best option.
