LONG VIEW, NC (AP) -- Police in Long View are investigating the shooting of a 21-year-old man by his mother.
The Hickory Daily Record reports that no one has been charged in the shooting that killed Justin Barger on Friday in the town just west of Hickory.
Police Lt. Rick Coffey says Justin Barger was drinking and assaulted his parents.
Coffey says 53-year-old Karen Barger shot her son once with a handgun. He died at the home.
No one answered the phone at the Bargers' home early Tuesday.
Coffey says police are investigating, and will turn the results of their probe over to the district attorney to determine if charges should be filed.
