NEW BERN, NC (WWAY) -- A man accused of murdering a Wilmington mother was denied bond in a Craven County cold case murder.

Andrew Bernard Adams is accused of a rape and murder that took place in New Bern 34 years ago. He made an appearance today in district court in Craven County.

Adams was formally charged with the 1977 rape and murder of Gwendolyn Nelson. If convicted, he could face life in prison or even the death penalty.

At the hearing, the prosecution requested that Adams be held without bond, which the judge granted. He's also charged with last week's murder of Latricia Ana Scott in Wilmington.

He is a very bad man. He fits the description of a murderer.....So why hold the taxpayers accountable for making sure he gets what he needs? Let him go! I know I don't have control over how the state chooses to waste my dollars, but do not waste them on him!

I had to read this response several times to make sure I was reading it correctly. I have come to the conclusion that you are either a relative of his or you are totally clueless!!!!!!!!!! Let him out - why, to kill again? He is where he is supposed to be and if he would have been there to begin with, this young lady would be alive. He is a predator and will not stop until he is put away or a bullet put between his eyes.

I usually try to respond to what someone says as opposed to attacking the person who says it, but you are a MORON!

you would like to pick him up and take him in hmmmmm? What an idiotic statement! Society is responsible for protecting innocents from such evil people as this guy. So this is about money? Who dresses you?

Let him go to kill again? Uhhhh you need to re-think what you just posted. I say take him out behind the jail and 'take him out!'

I hope they snip his ba**s too.
Save the taxpayers $$$ finish him off now.

I wish this piece of *%@#! would get a needle in every vein but I'm sure he won't. He'll die in jail waiting his appeals. How much will it cost the taxpayers to feed and house him the rest of his life? That is if some cracker jack defense attorney doesn't get him out of jail.
