House move to slow traffic at Holden Beach Tuesday

HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Traffic at Holden Beach could be tied up tomorrow morning for an unusual reason: an beach house is moving inland.

The town says the owners of the 1,200 square foot house at 185 High Point Street are replacing it with a larger home. Instead of tearing it down, they're moving it off the island.

The move is scheduled to start around 8:45 a.m. The town say it should take the better part of an hour to move it down the island and over the bridge and causeway.

I went over to the island and recorded the house move. it went over without a hitch. I will try to upload video soon.Pretty amazing site to see something that size going across the bridge.
