NC Republicans: No recorded votes at next session

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Republican leaders in the North Carolina House and Senate say there are no plans to vote on legislation during a scheduled meeting of the General Assembly next week.

House Speaker Thom Tillis told fellow members Wednesday that no recorded votes will be taken during the session set for Feb. 16. Tillis says there's no need for House members to return to Raleigh except for committee work. Senate Rules Chairman Tom Apodaca said he didn't expect any votes in his chamber either.

The advanced notice comes after criticisms of Republican leaders who held an after-midnight session last month to override a veto by Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue.

The Legislature would next be scheduled to meet April 23.
