WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies say they caught a man last night they think may be involved in several other crimes.
Investigators say they got a tip that a man who used to work for Cape Fear Pick and Pull was planning to stealing car parts from the business. The manager let K-9 units set up in and around the business.
While patrolling the area deputies spotted Toby Michael Smith, 40, at a storage unit on the property. They say they found him with burglary tools and auto parts.
Smith is in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secure bond charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of burglary tools, trespassing and injury to real property. Investigators think Smith may be a suspect in other larceny cases in the area.
