RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- National conservative groups sponsoring a bus tour across North Carolina to highlight fiscal matters also will give a platform for supporters of a proposed constitutional amendment on the May ballot that would limit marriage to one man and one woman.
The Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council scheduled the start of their "Values Bus Tour" in North Carolina on Saturday at a leadership conference for conservative activists at a Raleigh hotel. The bus will travel to points as far west as Asheville through Thursday. The pro-amendment group Vote FOR Marriage NC will also take part in the tour and help the national groups with voter registration efforts.
The bus tour opens the day after anti-amendment activists wrapped up a five-week "Race to the Ballot" statewide tour in Wilmington.
