News 14 Carolina will carry Azalea Festival Parade live

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) -– News 14 Carolina will show the Azalea Festival Parade live on Saturday, April 14 from 9:30 am – noon in the coastal areas served by Time Warner Cable. The parade will also be available throughout the Carolinas on Carolina On Demand (channels 199 and 1047) within a few days of the live event.

“News 14 Carolina and Time Warner Cable are pleased to carry on the tradition of bringing this spectacular springtime event into the homes of our viewers and customers,” said Alan Mason, vice president and general manager of News 14 Carolina.

The parade will be co-hosted by News 14 Carolina anchor Johnny Chappell and former Azalea Festival president Lisa Ballantyne. "Nothing says springtime in North Carolina like the Azalea Festival. As a native of Eastern North Carolina and former resident of Wilmington, I'm proud to be a part of the team covering the gorgeous sights and sounds of the parade," said Chappell. Ballantyne, who is married to former senator and former gubernatorial candidate Patrick Ballantyne, is well known in the community and familiar with many parade participants.

The North Carolina Azalea Festival Parade is an annual event that is viewed by more than 500,000 people. This year's parade will feature floats, visiting celebrities, marching units and bands, clowns and horses, the Azalea Queen and her court, and the Azalea Princess.
