CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Three former elected leaders and two citizens in Carolina Beach will not face charges in a probe by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Former Carolina Beach Town Councilman Dan Wilcox tells WWAY he got a call from SBI this morning saying investigators found no wrongdoing and no charges would be filed against anyone under investigation.
Back in October, then Mayor Joel Macon confirmed the SBI was looking into allegations regarding property dealings involving Macon, Wilcox and then Mayor Pro-Tem Pat Efird and citizens Michael and Delores Kirkbride.
Wilcox said he always knew everything was fine, but the end of the investigation is a relief.
