WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)-- One of the Azalea Festival's celebrities is making a bit of a homecoming this week. Ashley Spivey, famous for her role on ABC's 'The Bachelor', is a UNCW graduate.
"I'm so honored to be back here," said Spivey. "I'm excited to be part of the festival."
Spivey, who graduated from UNCW in 2008, was on the 15th season of 'The Bachelor'. She says although the love scenes might be played up a little bit for the show, the sense of competition and her teary exit were very real.
"I was just very sad in the moment of getting rejected," said Spivey. "It is not fun to get broken up with on TV, so that hurt. Those tears were very real."
Spivey says she has been approached about possibly being on 'The Bachelorette" but she's not interested. The next bachelorette is the winner from Spivey's season.
"Emily (Maynard) is the next bachelorette and I think she's going to be amazing," said Spivey. "Everything works out the way it's suppose to."
The new season of 'The Bachelorette' starts on Monday, May 15 right here on WWAY.
