Leland man arrested for allegedly raping woman at assisted living facility

LELAND, NC (THE BRUNSWICK BEACON) -- A 68-year-old Leland man has been arrested for raping a woman at an assisted living facility.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Del Routh said detectives arrested Merlin Alford, 68, of 1935 Lincoln Road, Leland, on Sunday, April 8.

Alford has been charged with second-degree rape.
