Columbus County man shot and killed in his home

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Columbus County man is dead after being shot in the head in his home Friday evening, according to Sheriff Chris Batten.

Batten said the victim has been identified as Keith Douglas Gachette, 46. He was shot in the head on Palmetto Bay Road near Hallsboro. Deputies received the call around 6 p.m. Friday.

The Columbus County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating. Batten said there are currently no suspects.

The body has been sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
