Tabor City Police search for man connected to shooting

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Tabor City Police are searching for Jeffrey Billings, a man they say is connected to a shooting last week in Tabor City.

Police say five men shot into a car with four people inside, including two 18-month-olds. According to the police report, Lilly Stephens told police she and DeAngelo Lewis were driving past 303 West Sixth Street April 22 when a group of men started approaching the car. As they drove by the group, Stephens says the men stepped into the street and started shooting.

The rear window was shot out. No one inside the car was hurt.

Police say Billings has not turned himself in, despite a warrant out for his arrest. The other four men involved in the incident have been arrested.

Tabor City Police Chief Donald Dowless says Billings is out on bond from separate charges in South Carolina.

If you have any information on his whereabouts you are asked to call the Tabor City Police or the Columbus County Sheriff's Office.
