IDOL MINDS

I HATE TO SEE THAT ANOTHER YOUNG MAN GOT SHOT; BUT IF THEY WOULD PUT BACK VOCATIONAL CLASSES IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS; AT LEAST THIS WOULD GIVE THE YOUNG PEOPLE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THEIR IDOL MINDS. BACK IN THE DAY WHEN THERE WERE VOCATIONAL CLASSES IN SCHOOL; THE KIDS HAD SOMETHING TO FOCUS THEIR MINDS ON AND ON THE WEEKEND YES YOU WOULD GO TO PARTIES OR GO CLUBBINB, BUT YET YOU WERE THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO DURING THE NEXT WEEK OF SCHOOL (EITHER PUTTING BACK TOGETHER THAT MOTOR, AIR CONDITIONER, OR BUILDING SOMETHING )WHEN THE WEEKEND WAS OVER.
NOW THAT THE CLASSES HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE COLLEGES AT AN EXPENSE EVERYONE DON'T HAVE THE MEANS TO TAKE THESE COURSES. PLEASE PUT THEM BACK IN SCHOOL.

Glad you're concerned because ...

... so many parents don't seem to be, but, you still can't fix the blame on anyone except the shooter. Shop classes will never take the place of simply doing the right thing. That kind of training comes from yourself, your family and your immediate community.

It's time to stop making excuses.

Have you actually seen what is offered?

There are plenty of Vocational courses offered at the high schools in Brunswick County being taught by great teachers. At South they offer Carpentry, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Business, Marketing and Health Occupations. Plenty to keep kids that are genuinely interested during the school year. I am willing to bet however the people involved in this unfortunate incident aren't interested in doing anything productive at school and it wouldn't matter what course at school they were taking would have prevented this.

Seriously

It's a shame that you can't even go to a party anymore in brunswick county without something dumb happening. Years ago when I was in high school (SOUTH ALUMNI) yes we partied at these same spots as the kids are partying at today and the worse was fights, not a big deal, now there's young adults being shot or shot at, case in point south brunswick football stand out "marc man". SERIOUSLY if you have intentions on going to a party NOT to have a good time and dance STAY YOUR ASS HOME. And its always the boys from Shallotte/Supply area that show up and start this confusion, they're the typical "wanna be" thugs/gang members smh cut it out, you live in brunswick county. Glad Ryan is ok.

It's a real shame

How can all this shooting be going on and no one seem to really take more precaution on gun controls.

How can

Well why don't you carry your uneducated ass out to the street and see if you can have a long talk with all these thugs carrying guns? Tell them that you demand they turn in there guns.

If this happened on private

If this happened on private property, gun laws would make no difference, unless the shooter was a convicted felon. There are too many gun control laws now and only restrict those who use their firearms legally and safely. The law never stopped a criminal.
