Couple charged with stealing car, plate

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A man and woman are in jail after Wilmington Police say they stole a car and license plate.

Officers responded to 2112 Metts Ave for a call about suspicious activity, specifically people putting a license plate on a red Pontiac Grand Am. When officers got there, they talked to Amber Fox, 21, and Derek Griffin, 24, who police say were removing a Quebec license plate off the Pontiac and replacing it with a North Carolina plate.

Officers found out the NC plate and the red Pontiac had just been stolen. They say the Pontiac was stolen from the Budget Inn on Market St. The license plate was stolen off a vehicle on Borden Street.

Fox is in the New Hanover County Jail under $15,000 bond. She's charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle. Griffin is in jail under $50,000 bond. He is charged with larceny, possession of stolen property, no drivers license, tampering with a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and larceny of a motor vehicle.

those are probably pictures

those are probably pictures from the drivers license board not mug shots

Wipe that smile off your face, boy...

Don't you just love how they seem to think that what they did is funny...

Two reasons, I think

First, they know that their parents probably don't care, and second, they'll be out in no time, looking for another car and plate to steal. Pathetic.

No he wont. he didnt have

No he wont. he didnt have money to begin with...otherwise he wouldn't have stolen the plate. LMAO???? when you're behind bars it can be very hard to come up with 10-20% of 50K for a bondsman that trusts "his word" on getting to that court date(aka flight risk). Y
