Charlotte airport pulls survey on president choice

CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) -- Those using the free Wi-Fi at Charlotte Douglas International Airport are no longer seeing a pop-up survey question about their presidential preference.

The Charlotte Observer reported that airport officials stopped the survey earlier this month.

Airport spokeswoman Lee Davis says the airport was not conducting the survey and did not see the results. The question was for Google Consumer Surveys and came from a third-party advertising vendor at the airport, Cloud Nine Media.

Davis says the question violated airport advertising police against using political questions.

Cloud Nine CEO Sebastian Tonkin says the question is one of thousands that rotate randomly. Tonkin says he doesn't know how many people were asked the presidential question. He says the question is not connected to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte next week.
