Fort Bragg general charged with adultery, other sex crimes

Associated Press

FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) -- US defense officials say an Army brigadier general has been charged with forcible sodomy, multiple counts of adultery and having inappropriate relationships with several female subordinates.

Two defense officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to provide details on the case.

At a news conference Wednesday, Col. Kevin Arata confirmed that Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair was facing charges but declined to provide details or take questions. Sinclair has been informed of the charges but has not yet been arrested.

The officials said Sinclair, who served as deputy commander in charge of logistics and support for the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, was sent home in May because of the allegations.

Baldor reported from Washington.

Understanding it takes time

but he was returned to the States in May.

So what is the current state of the investigation.

He was Deputy Commander in charge of logistics and support. A number cruncher perhaps. Not likely he was out on patrol or missions.

First question, what is his current assignment?

Second question, when does this get kicked up a notch or 2?

A speedy trial and the right to face one's accussors are gauranteed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

UCOM is different then standard civilian law

Based on other reports this guy was really outdoing himself to include misuse of a govt credit card. My suspicions are this guy was orginally being investigated by the Inspector General for financial impropriates among other things. Once the IG found out enough to have him removed he was pulled back to the States while the CID (Criminal Investigative Division, think of them as the Army's NCIS) dug up the rest of what was needed for criminal charges of a more serious nature. My dad was in the IG office back in the late 70s-early 80s and it was amazing the stuff that they would find on guys serving overseas (the most common was obviously misapprop funds and adultery which unlike civilan law is a crime under the Uniform Code of Miltary Justice). Its possible they've already had an Article 32 hearing which is why we are finding out, technically until he is charged (which it seems now he is) they can not say one thing publically regarding any investigation or charges until the 32 hearing has been held regarding the results of an investigation and potential charges and whether the government has cause to proceed to a General Court Martial

it takes a fair bit of effort to climb through the ranks and attain a star.

This guy showed how it can all end so quickly.

This is the same chain of command who hammered numerous senior NCOs for mere peanuts. The CG reached all over RC South destroying all in his path to include their leaders, well it seems the 82nd didnt have their house too clean. 3rd Star for the CG? As if he had no idea, well as he did to COs he should do to his self, write himself a GOMOR, CGs are responsible for their Troops.

how's that HOPE and CHANGE

how's that HOPE and CHANGE thing working out for yaw, the more left and socialist this country swings the more social problems we are going to have, and why is there 5 deployments, are we always in a war?

And one more thing, what's with the anonymous reports, if you are not authorized to speak on details does this not border on "treason", Could this be another one of those leaks at an opportune time for this admin?

I don't see how the current

I don't see how the current president has anything to do with a general, who's been serving in the army for decades, deciding to break the military's code of conduct and commit sex crimes. This guy's perversions didn't suddenly appear because a democrat became the commander in chief. I guess your screen name, BM, stands for bowel movement, which is pretty much the content of your post.

It is spelled "ya'll." Next
